Life
1585-1639; dg. of English judge, m. c.1600 Sir Henry Cary afterwards 1st
Viscount Falkland DNB q.v., Lord Deputy in Ireland, 1622-29], with whom
she went to Ireland; a linguist, secretly became Catholic, and separated
from him on account of her religion; a son, Patrick Cary, fl.1651, was
raised a Catholic in France and Italy; a protégé of Urban
VIII, he became an abbé before 1644; Benedictine monk at Douai
c.1650; went to England; verses written at Warnford, Hampshire, 1651,
published 1771. DNB
