Kelly, Stradbally; ed. TCD (though not listed as an alumnus); non-practising
lawyer; active in politics, esp. Tithe agitation; noted speaker, Clerk
of the Peace, Queen’s Co. (Offaly), through influence of Lord Castletown;
wrote Glenmore, or the Irish Peasant (1839), a novel about eviction,
signed ‘A Member of the Irish Bar’; ded. to his friend his friend
the poet Thomas Campbell; d. 24 Mar., at residence Glentolka, Fairview,
Dublin; bur. Stradbally. PI IF
