?1094-1148 [Malachi; Malachy Malachy O’Morgair; Maelmaedhoig Ua Morgair]; became head of abbey of Bangor, co. Down; bishop of Connor, 1124; suffered destruction of his monastery by northern chief; est. monastery at Ibrach in Munster; archb. of Armagh, 1132-36; bishop of Down, 1136; travelled to Clairvaux and there died; biography by St. Bernard; legendary for sanctity and learning; allegedly made prophecies relating the the sucessors of St. Peter and the destiny of Ireland.
