in Land League trials at Green St. Court, and nick-named Peter the
Packer for his approach to juries in these trials, 1881-82; Attorney-Gen.
1888; conducted trials under Balfours Crimes (Coercion) Act, 1887;
Lord chief Justice, 1889; Baronet, 1891; peerage, 1990; Reminiscences
