Name-sake: Justin McCarthy, gen. ed., Irish Literature (Washington: University of America 1904), lists a James Jeffrey Roche, b. Ireland in mid-19th c.; moved to Prince Edward Island in infancy; spent most of his mature life in Boston; extract from Ballads of Blue Water; also cites ‘Her Majesty the King’, ‘The Kearsage,’ and other works.
