Sir Philip Sydney; master of Lincoln grammar school; and Sir Philips
secretary, 1585; with Sidney at his death, Zutphen 1586; secretary to
Earl of Essex; MP Tamsworth, 1597; career damaged by Essexs fall;
appt. Provost of Trinity College, Dublin, 1609; initiated numerous college
reforms; Master of Chancery, 1619; MP for Dublin University, 1613; knighted
