of fruit & vegetable business, living in Mountjoy Sq., Dublin; ed.
Dominican Convent, Wicklow and Eclole du Louvre, Paris, studying art history;
remained in Paris and worked for New York Times Sunday cultural
section; joined Michael Scott & Partners; m. Robin Walker (d.1991),
1961; involved in Signa, with Michael Scott and Louis le Brocquy; contrib.
art criticism to RTÉ, 1964-67; art Hibernia art critic, 1967-77; contrb.
ed. Studio International; contrib. Sunday Times; vice-pres. of International
Assoc. of Art Critics, 1979-81, and president of Irish Section; co-fnd.
International Centre for Advanced Studies in Art at NYU, 1981; issued
Louis le Brocquy (1981); fnd-member of Rosc Exhibitions, 1967 and
1971; sponsored Irish representation at Rosc 1980; member of first board
of IMMA, 1990; championed Michael Coleman, Michael Mulcahy, Patrick Scott,
Sean Scully and Michael Farrell (who vocally repudiated her criticism
and included a message to her in his cut-out work (Maintenant

Peat-Guinness Awards for Emerging Artists, 1980s; moard of dirs. of Gallery
of Photography, 1997-2002; her children are Simon, Michan, Corban and
